Introduction

African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) is one of the country’s leading diversified mining and minerals companies, with world-class, long-life, low-cost assets. ARM operates on a business model centred around forging mutually beneficial partnerships with major players in the resource sector. The company in its current form was established in 2004 and was created to operate, develop, explore and hold interests in the South African and African mining industries.

‘I form part of ARM’s Professional in Training Programme and have been seconded to Xstrata Coal, where I recently received my “Blasting Ticket”’

ARM Ltd | Best Employers SA 2011/12 ‘This year I will also be taking part in the New Managers Programme at Wits Business School. ARM offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and its corporate and interpersonal values far exceed the norm. The general atmosphere at ARM is relaxed and everyone is willing to help. I have received invaluable guidance and advice from my mentor, Peter Steenkamp. There are so many opportunities to learn – I am exposed to new challenges every day and gain great satisfaction from overcoming them.’

Jarno Janse Van Vuuren (27), Bachelor of Mining Engineering, University of Pretoria.
