Introduction

IBM is more than a mere producer of hardware and software, the company operates by analysing and predicting the needs of a rapidly changing world and reinventing itself to meet these needs. 2011 is IBM’s centennial year and the company has plans to celebrate by reflecting on both its successes and its mistakes. While it aims to avoid making the same mistakes in the future, the company also wants to avoid becoming too risk averse. IBM will use both its legacy and its future aspirations to renew the company’s identity at this time, ensuring that it is relevant now, and continues to be relevant into the future.

‘Limitless opportunities at the world’s leading ICT company’

IBM | Best Employers SA 2011/12 ‘I am currently completing my induction programme and look forward to taking on my permanent role later in the year. Working for the world’s leading ICT company means that there are limitless opportunities open to me. I know that I will reach my full potential at IBM. Initially, the sheer size of the organisation seems daunting, but everyone here is willing to lend a hand. You’re encouraged to learn and grow from your mistakes.’

Violet Oratile Makwiti, 27, is an Informatics graduate.
