Introduction

Pick n Pay was started as a family controlled business in 1967. Thanks to its emphasis on the consumer and their rights, it has grown to become one of the most successful retail chains in Africa.

‘A values-based company’

Pick n Pay | Best Employers SA 2011/12 ‘Pick n Pay is a values based company proud of its heritage. The company takes pride in growing and developing its people and is passionate about the communities it serves. As a store manager, the major challenge I experience on a day to day basis revolves around planning my day and making sure that I stick to that plan. It’s a job – and a company culture – that holds appeal for people who are passionate about their own development, about retail and about the customers we serve. Pick n Pay is driven by highly energetic, resilient and hardworking people.’

Darryn Letley, 27, joined Pick n Pay in 2003.
